Compare GENEVO Radar Detectors
GENEVO makes one portable radar detector and two custom-installed systems for drivers in the US and Canada. All three detect K and Ka band radar and the photo enforcement radars MultaRadar CD/CT, Gatso RT3/RT4, Stalker Phodar 3D, Redflex NK7 and Redflex HALO, and all three get free firmware and camera database updates for life. They differ in how they are installed, where you buy them and what they cost.

Portable or custom-installed?
Choose the GENEVO MAX if
- you want to order online and set it up yourself
- you switch between cars or take it on trips
- you want the lowest price of the three: $499
- your windshield is not metal-coated
Choose the PRO II or PRO II DUO if
- you want a clean installation, with no detector or power cable on the windshield
- your car has a metal-coated (heat-reflective) windshield
- you keep the car for years and want a professional installation
- you want to know whether a radar is ahead or behind: that is the PRO II DUO
What to compare in any radar detector
- Radar bands. K and Ka band carry most radar speed enforcement in the US and Canada. Photo enforcement radars such as MultaRadar and Gatso are used in parts of Canada and in some US cities. X band is now rare.
- False alert filtering. Blind spot monitoring systems on modern cars transmit on the K band, close to the frequency speed radar uses. Look for a K-band filter that handles them, and a way to lock out false alerts at fixed spots.
- Camera alerts and their cost. Red-light and speed camera alerts come from a GPS database. Check how often it is updated and whether the updates need a paid subscription.
- App or no app. Some detectors depend on a smartphone app. GENEVO detectors work on their own and are updated from a computer.
- Warranty. 1 year is common for portable radar detectors. The GENEVO MAX has 2 years when bought online and 5 years when a certified GENEVO dealer installs and registers it.
- Installation and service. A custom-installed system is only as good as its installation. Ask the dealer about the installation price, where the antenna goes on your car and who services it.
- Where it is legal. Radar detectors are banned in Virginia and Washington, D.C., in commercial vehicles and in several Canadian provinces. See radar detector laws in the US and Canada.
Common questions
Which GENEVO shows the direction of the radar?
Only the GENEVO PRO II DUO. It has a radar antenna at the front and another at the rear, and arrows on its display show whether the signal comes from ahead or from behind.
Do I need a subscription for camera alerts?
No. Firmware and the US and Canada camera database are free for life on all three models, with a new database every month.
Does the GENEVO MAX work behind a metal-coated windshield?
Metal-coated (heat-reflective) windshields block much of the radar signal and drastically reduce the range of any windshield-mounted detector, including the GENEVO MAX. In those cars choose the GENEVO PRO II, whose antenna sits behind the bumper.
Where can I buy the PRO II and PRO II DUO?
Only from certified GENEVO dealers, who also install them. Enter your ZIP or postal code on Find a dealer to see the dealers near you.
Can a dealer install the GENEVO MAX?
Yes. A certified GENEVO dealer can install the GENEVO MAX with a direct wire, and with dealer installation and registration the warranty is 5 years instead of 2.
