Why is a high-quality GPS database important in detectors?

Drivers need to be more careful than ever before, as the number of measured locations is growing rapidly especially in recent years. That is why we have been updating changes in our own GPS database for you for over 10 years every day and we pay attention to its accuracy.

The GENEVO GPS database is a valued feature of the GENEVO MAX, GENEVO PRO II and PRO II DUO. It includes fixed speed cameras, red-light cameras, average speed cameras and dangerous spots in the US and Canada. Many of these cameras do not use radar that a detector can pick up, and therefore, an up-to-date and accurate GPS database in the detector is essential.

GPS database GENEVO

Thanks to many years of mapping experience, a network of testers and partners and also thanks to you, our customers, the database has long been one of the key advantages of our detectors. Of course, we keep improving it and fix reported errors in the next update.

In addition, to deliver even greater accuracy and coverage, we’ve strengthened our GPS database through cooperation with SCDB.info - The worldwide speed camera database provider.

Monthly database updates

In order to be able to rely on the accuracy of the data and quick updates of GPS points, we have developed our own system, which we have been gradually improving for over 10 years. Every day, our specialist focuses exclusively on the management, control and optimization of the database and makes an average of 10 adjustments per day, thus ensuring its smooth operation and continuous development.

Every month we release an updated database, which you can quickly and easily upload to your detector, as you can find out how in the updates and support section.

How does GPS detection work?

Depending on the settings, GENEVO alerts you to fixed speed cameras 820, 1,150 or 1,480 feet in advance. When you approach a point stored in its database, the detector alerts you in advance, so you can check your speed. The detector also shows you the distance from the given point and reports the average speed in the section measurement. Read how radar detectors work.
